From many years of working in a corporate sales and marketing roles finding myself at a desk or traveling to see clients - I had turned to both Yoga and Pilates to reduce stress and manage back pain. The power of the Pilates exercise method was enough for me to strengthen and overcome my chronic low back issues. After 17 years of practice and upon relocating to North Carolina's coastal community. I decided to share this amazing exercise method with others. Over the past six years, I have since completed both Classical Mat, Comprehensive and Advanced Apparatus/Equipment Pilates teacher certifications . Trained under the well known Classical Pilates Teacher Carrie Pages "Pilates Anytime- 2016 Instructor of the Year" . I am currently working thru my additional hours toward the internationally recognized Pilates Method Alliance certification.
Also a registered Yoga teacher (E-RYT200) thru the Yoga Alliance. I offer classes with in the local Southport and Bald Head Island communities. Teaching mindful movement with an anatomical approach. Recently we have become YACEP - a recognized credentialed continuing education location. Classes soon to come this fall!
With a Yoga and Pilates background it only felt natural to continue to explore the popular Barre Fit method. In 2016 and 2017 I also became certified in Barre for a Healthy Back and The Barre Fit System. Barre Fit is based on the Lotte Berk system.
As the owner of two businesses- Southport Pilates ( and Avery Talent Solutions), a mom, a sailor, and homeowner- it is imperative to make time for myself, strengthening both mind and body. Without Pilates and Yoga I would not have the energy or focus to do all that is necessary.
